No raindrops are falling yet, but supposed to tomorrow. I had listened to an old song yesterday " I can't stand the Rain" by the Eurythmics, and got thinking about rain. Myself, I can stand the rain, actually I really like rain, especially a real downpour. I enjoy doing bookwork at my desk when it is pouring. Bringing in groceries, ... well that's not my favorite rainy day thing to do. And I haven't kissed in the rain much either. I have cried in the rain, and likely that's where they got the idea for " Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain". Ha Ha.
I read an article on raindrops today, and the shape of them. Oh, this could change the world as we know it.....
~ " Falling raindrops are often depicted in as "teardrop-shaped" — round at the bottom and narrowing towards the top — but this is incorrect. Only drops of water dripping from some sources are tear-shaped at the moment of formation. Small raindrops are nearly spherical. Larger ones become increasingly flattened on the bottom, like hamburger buns; very large ones are shaped like parachutes. The shape of raindrops was studied by Philipp Lenard in 1898. On average, raindrops are 1 to 2 mm in diameter. The biggest raindrops on Earth were recorded over Brazil and the Marshall Islands in 2004 — some of them were as large as 10 mm.
How does one get a paying job solely studying raindrops..... or is there even one to be had? I always wanted to be a meteorologist, guess it's rather too late for that now.
