Pay Me Pay Back

Oh yeah.... it was pay back time at the Pay Me table tonight. Thanks for all the wild cards and the money. The hostess started out as usual, with her Pay Me hands, after hand, after hand....but her scored suffered eventually. It was about time, as I had been on a losing streak since February. The wind and rained howled, while inside the avon lady suffered hot flashes, but it was much better than choking and requiring immediate medical attention.

Playing card trivia.... the 9 of diamonds is called the "Curse of Scotland" (perhaps because diamond means royalty and every 9th King of Scotland was a tyrant.)

The 4 of clubs is known as "the devil's bedpost" ( no real explanation).

Closet Drinker

~~ A Japanese man who was mystified when food kept disappearing from his kitchen, set up a hidden camera and found an unknown woman living secretly in his closet, Japanese media said Friday.~~

She had been there for months, had a mattress and plastic water bottles in the closet. Poor thing had no where to live. She now likely lives at a Tokyo jail. Maybe the same one Paul McCartney spent time in 1980.

Cocktail Hour

The beautiful weather prompted a cocktail hour planned and hosted by La Girl, at her new pad. Her patio has much coziness, and the guests were absolutely wonderful. Lady Di did a bit of slurring at one point, and being such good friends, we easily talked her into "just one more." We spoke of many things, from bras, to toe nails. It's a fine place to hang out, very secluded, yet one can see all going on, including the neighbour. Real glad I attended and look forward to the next one.

Obviously the local NSLC doesn't deliver taste testing, as no one showed up, despite lady Di's efforts.

Missing You Tonite

It's on nights like these, that I miss you the most. I long to see you, and hold you just one more time. I remember the times we had together, how close we were and how I always felt comforted by you. You were one of a kind, never to be replaced. I feel bad for letting you go, but it was my pride that got in the way.

I still find myself looking for you, then I remember that I threw you in the garbage, because you were so worn. I'll never find another pink nightie like you.

Tonight, I wonder in what landfill you are.

Jay Leno Quote

"Now there are more overweight people in America than average-weight people. So overweight people are now average. Which means you've met your New Year's resolution."

Ferrero Rocher

You know, the expensive gold foil wrapped chocolates that are popular at Christmas time, but tasty anytime.

Well guess what the world record is for unwrapping and eating Ferrero Rocher in 1 minute?

It's 5. Isn't that low?? Next Christmas instead of the annual armwrestling event, maybe we should try to break the Ferrero Rocher record. It surely can be beat.

Pavement

So, it appears we are getting some new pavement soon. I hate to be the odd man out ... but I find there are a lot of worst places in need of pavement. BUT there are some bad, and lumpy spots, which are nasty in the winter.

The workers are doing their thing. Holding slow/stop signs, with an accomplice that does god knows what. It seems as though there is a lot of idle time when you observe the road workers. Maybe they are all on staggered break times, and just choose to watch construction during their break.

A lazy aquaintance of ours, who once had that exciting job of holding a stop sign in uneventful North Kempt, had this to say. " It was the best job ever.... had only one car all day !"

Mars

NASA's Phoenix Mars spacecraft appears to have made a safe landing on Mars.

~~Just before 8 p.m. Eastern time, mission controllers at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory here received a radio signal from the Phoenix on the ground in the icy plains north of Mars' Arctic circle.

If all is operating properly, the next few days will be spent checking out the instruments aboard the lander. Then, it will begin the first upclose investigation of Mars' north polar regions. All of Mars' surface is currently far too cold for life to exist, but in the past, Mars' axis may have periodically tipped over so that its north pole pointed at the sun during summer. That conceivably could have warmed the ice into liquid water.
With liquid water comes the possibility of life.
On Phoenix, a robotic arm with a scoop at the end will dig into the permafrost terrain into the ice. Instruments on the spacecraft included a small oven that will heat the scooped-up dirt and ice to 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit.

A slow painful death

Yes, sorry to report that trivia night at the Grand has died a slow, and painful death. Not enough nerds attending.

Saturday Blog

Ah, aren't Saturday's so nice. Except for the fact that Loverboy woke me up at 6;45, I love Saturday mornings. Housework, music playing, windows open, and kids playing outdoors. One son had breakfast in the tree stand, and the other had dinner there.

Last night we played cards. 8 of us. The games were long, and the laughs were plentiful. Lady Di was in hysterics, and discarding wild cards to the prince. The hyper one was hyper, and the newfie was dreaming of mowing the lawn. We all had a good dose of the best medicine. The hostess was doing an impersonation of a late great aunt of mine. Let's say she placed third in the Apple Blossom Pageant, although she was the only one running. Now you know I would never say anything like that about anyone, but word is that her husband said just that. The impersonation was awesome, and I thought I would never regain composure enough to play. And the cards weren't the best, may I add.

We all went to the show this afternoon, to see The Chronicles of Narnia 2 " Prince Caspian". It was very good. It's kind of a Lord of the rings story. Good fantasy movie indeed.

Helloooo? Any one home???

Okay, okay... I am back. I was busy with stuff, and have found my way back to my blogging world.

Travelled to Moncton and Truro earlier this month. Froggy, myself and the boys. Saw some WWE Smackdown with the kids. Did meet up with my friend " super-woman" and we all had some cocktails and lots of laughs as usual. Thanks for supper too. Bought a bottle of Smirnoff Mojito... and it is yummy. New product now available at a NSLC near you.

The eldest had soccer last weekend for the jeux de l'Acadie. Gone for 3 nights, with 600 kids. For me, leaving him there was comparable to putting him on the bus for school for the first time . The lump was big, I tell you. Then the next day when I watched him play, it got much better, and he showed me his sleeping quarters. A small cafeteria with 30 hockey bags strewn all over the place, and 30 air mattresses. It smelled like socks. Not clean ones either. He seemed so grown up. I asked him if he needed anything, ...money, ...food,... anything? Nope was the reply. On Sunday , we finally got to pick him up. On the way home, he talked for a couple minutes, and the next thing he was sleeping. Propped up against the seat belt. I looked at Loverboy and smiled. Nice to have that baby boy back.

Visited with Tante tonight. Checked out the renovations. The 100+ lbs dog sat on me a couple times. Sure makes 37 lb Sandee look like a puppy. Tante reports her waistline is expanding, and the new one will be arriving in about 21 weeks, give or take a few days.

I gave the youngest a bath before bed. We lost the soap, so I used some AXE snake peel body wash to scrub him up. Mmmm, I told him.. you are gonna smell like a real man.

"Oh mom! I hope this smelly stuff wears off before morning. How am I gonna get a girlfriend? The girls say they don't like AXE products!"

Good Grief.
