In reference to the H1N1, how is it that natives (first nations communities) are in a higher risk group than us white folk?

H1N1 news

~~the paper reports ~~As of Monday, only those in the following groups will get the vaccine: pregnant women, kids aged six months to 59 months, people in native communities, health-care workers in hospitals, long-term care facilities and home-care agencies who give direct care to patients, including family doctors, family practice nurses, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

Dr. Strang said the province will offer the vaccine later to other groups, based on risk and on supply.

Doctors' offices won't receive any vaccine until further notice.

Those physicians who already have some vaccine will be asked to immunize people only in the risk groups, the release said.

Workplace immunization clinics will also be postponed until further notice.

The province expects to get 12,500 doses of adjuvanted vaccine and 5,400 of unadjuvanted doses next week, much less than expected, health officials said.

Wal-Mart ... save money, live better

And die better apparently.... Yes, Ldot reports that you can purchase a coffin, or urn online from Wal-mart. Of course that smiley face bandit has slashed the prices, and they are no doubt much lower than your funeral director's selection. I am not 100% sure that it's available in Canada, but it is in the USA. While the price is great, the sympathy may not be.

Monster Mash

You haven't heard the best Monster Mash live performance if you have never heard Greg Cottreau sing it and play his guitar. He is my favorite Monster Mash performer ! But unfortunately he's not on youtube.... yet. And I hear he gives very strong hugs too!

Some country tunes

I heard a George Strait tune today. I am a lover of all kinds of music & I can listen to anything. I thought of my favorite George Strait tune... Amarillo by Morning.

And I always loved K.T. Oslin. Especially her tear-jerker song titled 80's ladies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQj8XVGQMHM&feature=related

I'll never leave you, right now.

57% of attorneys in New York report having less divorce cases than in 2008. Times are tough, and couples cannot afford to divorce...... yet. Couples are deciding to stick it out for a bit more, until the recession turns around and divorce becomes more affordable and alimony will be wrapped with a bigger bow.

CKBW

Had a laugh today. In the vehicle I had CKBW on... and my son said " that woman sounds like Crusty the Clown from the Simpsons ! If you've ever tuned in... you'll know who he's talking about.

Hungry for Lobster

Yummm ! Wouldn't a good lobster boil be good !

H1N1 tips from school

Among many good tips offered in a very well composed letter from school, was this one : (it caught my eye, and made me gag)

****Refrain from using other people's mouth guards ****

Hallowe'en Quiz

Here's a halloween quiz for you ! Good luck ! I want the sailor to try this as well..... smarty pants. http://www.readersdigest.ca/specialfeatures/halloween_2009/cms/cmsquiz/101/0/q.html

Parents of children 13 and over (mature theme)

Parents, especially women, are great at networking, sharing ideas, and giving advice . Especially when it comes to their children and family life.

You have a child , and meet anyone who has had one, they have a story and advice for you. And it continues as your child ages.

Here's one thing that you never hear any parent talking about.... and if your children are at home, and over 13, you will relate .

How do you have quality sex with children around? ( notice I said quality sex, this is not a quickie)

These older children watch hockey games, read in bed, & listen to their Ipods late. They are still awake and running on energizer batteries when you are in your chair getting whiplash from nodding off and can hardly reach your bed, let alone have hot and steamy sex !

So, call me naive.

I didn't realize that sexual freedom got on such a short leash between the years of the 7:30 bedtimes and the empty nest syndrome.

JS said he missed the good old days.... well so do I !

I got my P & G sampler of cleaning supplies today, and my Melt magazine, and my single Bandaid sample. WooHoo !

Laurent's Book

Don't forget, tomorrow is the day you want to pop into the Acadian Museum at 1:30 and get your book from Laurent. Stories to Remember Volume 3. $15.

Old navy on Saturday

...............................This Saturday, Old Navy is going to have $1 fleece scarves as their doorbuster special. Make sure you get there early to pick up some yourself!

The Gibbs

Visited the Gibbs tonight, and the singing wasn't too bad either. It was entertaining to say the least. Other than omitting whip cream from the grocery list, there's no chance of any crime around there with Batman, Batgirl, and Peter Parker (Spiderman) hovering about. Ha Ha ! Gotcha !

These Dreams

Yes KLS ! You were my accomplice in a dream, wading through water, looking for daysurgery in a Shelburne hospital as big as Mic mac mall. We were both wearing the lovely green gowns, with matching robes to keep the cool air off our butt cracks. I checked out dreams ... and found : To dream of wading in water, symbolizes your power and control over your emotions. Consider the depth and clarity of the water to determine how much power you have over circumstances and situations in your life.

But I rather go with your theory..... that we should go on an adventure. I always thought it would be neat to participate in mass turtle hatchings . Think about it?

P&G samples have arrived ??

LDot claims she got her newest samples already ! She got the one with various cleaning products in it. Must mean that mine is close by.

And you're welcome LDot !

Happy Winter

***************************Saturday was Iceland’s first winter day, according to the traditional calendar.

Iceland recognises the first day of summer as the first Thursday after the 18th April and the first day of winter as the Saturday between the 21st and 27th October.
The First Day of Winter usually goes by with little hoo-ha, but Saturday, meat soup was offered to guests on Reykjavik’s Skolavordustigur shopping street.
The hearty winter soup was accompanied by various other entertainment, activities and promotions from Iceland’s most consistently active community of shop owners.
We missed it TitNat!

Bye Bye MacDonald's

Funny thing... the ville de Ouester was asking me yesterday about Iceland's economic collapse, and if there was any evidence of it while we visited. Other than lower prices, there was not. But today I read that After having served it's first burger in Iceland in 1993, Iceland will be closing it's 3 MacDonald's and replacing them with a local burger joint of similar quality. Iceland imports MacDonald's food, and it's just not going to survive. Iceland had asked for MacDonald's to come on over...as they had a burger loving prime minister at that time I guess. Iceland is fully self sufficient with their food supply, given the endless supply of water and heat which creates a great atmosphere for hydroponic growing. Also, everything in Iceland is organic !

Back to the MacDonald's story,I hear that some are going to try to be MacDonald's "last customer"' in Iceland.

H1N1 defense

I am getting to be as anoying as the media with my H1N1 stuff...
First and foremost, get your vaccine.
I read this today....

~~“The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it’s almost impossible to avoid coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions.

1. Frequent hand-washing.
2. “Hands-off-the-face” approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face.
3. *Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don’t trust salt). *H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation.
4. Similar to 3 above, *clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. *Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti , but *blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.*
5. *Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C (Amla and other citrus fruits). *If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.
6. *Drink as much of warm liquids (tea, coffee, etc) as you can. *Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.”

Facebook complaint

If you need me to copy down two words (to verify whatever ) could you please give me two words I can at least pronounce and spell. Is that too much to ask !!! Moriarty and Papargonias are totally not acceptable.

Happy but look like hell

Went on a 4 wheeler ride today. To Belleville and back with great company... Lala and the kisser, the hairdresser and little "T", Mr & Mrs H, The Lady and the Prince, and myself and Loverboy.
Was a super day, warm and the scenery was beautiful. But something has to be done for women who wear helmets. Doesn't the helmet industry realize what we look like after having worn a helmet. My thick hair is flat, stuck to my head, and my scalp itches. I tried to fluff it up a bit, since they have cameras with them. It looks like a giant banana peel pulled over my head. And it never recovers until it's washed... so no matter where you go, eat, socialize, you look like shit. Surely they can come up with a loose fitting helmet equipped with an airbag or something, so we beauties on the trails can keep looking our very best.

Free Snuggie Blanket

They claim they will send you one free. One of those big blankets with the sleeves. All they want is your phone number for feedback. No shipping charges either. Check'em out !

Benny and the Jets

Son #1 has been playing Benny and the Jets everyday since he perfected it on the piano. Here's a clip of Elton, and some muppets, playing Bennie and the Jets.

Bedwetting 101

Here's a free sample of underjams ( at first I was thinking it was some kinda jelly). If you need a sample to try...

very simple form.

UPDATE !

Please be advised of the following two blog updates.

1) Due to totally unnecessary bureaucratic red tape from our lovely health department, getting the H1N1 vaccine from your family doctor may not be as simple as it sounds. The department of health will have their own troubles meeting the demand, and they are good at making, an otherwise simple task, difficult to do in your average docs office. Therefore, all doctors may not be participating. I suggest you visit the clinic in your area where the nurse there can give 15 shots in an hour, compared to a doc who can do 60, with eyes shut.

2) A well known car salesman read my latest "Car Talk" post and told me that the VIN number, unlike my oven door, can be seen and read from the outside of the vehicle, if you look near the right wiper. Good to know, I told you I was the dumbest when it comes to car knowledge. Thanks for the info. And, if there is a little snow, you may have to brush some off to see it. I sure hope LDot reads this !

Recently at a Food court at a Halifax mall there was one, and I'll put that link as well. Watch and enjoy.

Weird stuff

They keep on inventing new versions of bathroom, tub and shower scrubbers. They even have one that sprays your shower walls and is scrub free... heck ! they all say they are scrub free. I don't believe that for a minute. I haven't met a cleaner I didn't scrub.

And cloverleaf, which whom I had the upmost respect for, had a good coupon out the other day. Premixed tuna stuff that you can buy. It was "tuna-flavored". Yes, you read right... flavored. And what was it really ?

Butterball has a phone number you can call if you're having turkey trouble. They report getting 10,000 calls around christmas. Here's a couple that were priceless...

A caller cut a turkey in half with a chain saw, then worried that oil on the saw might have transferred onto the turkey.
A woman in Colorado called because she left her turkey outside to keep it frozen and now realized she couldn't find it when more snow fell.

And I have realized that as young, middle aged people, we worry about what we put into our bodies, and when we get very old, we worry more about what comes out. Why is that?

Save.ca

is my favorite site for great coupons. And they come in the mail within a week.

Check it out, if you haven't.

P&G samples for men

Here's a good sampler... get it for the man in your life, for his christmas stocking, or his shaving kit. It's for men, and you must order in his name, but that's no problem. When the blue box arrives in the mail, just claim it !
Be sure to check off that first box, to get your samples.

Car Talk

To further Ldot's feelings about being "car-dumb"... I am certain you are not as bad as myself. ANd like you.. I consider myself fairly intelligent. But I do not know what a Honda vehicle looks like, unless it's a Honda Civic from 1980. I don't know what a Toyota looks like, or a GM. I do know a Nitro is a dodge and a charger is a dodge. Name anyone... and I cannot tell you what make of vehicle they drive. If I get asked what does so-so drive ? I tell them the colour.

I have never changed a tire, not do I know where I would find it. Like an oven, I feel the VIN is around the door frame somewhere. I have no idea what year my vehicle is. All I know is the colour. I can , however, put windsheild wash and I can gas up my car. I had an oil change last week, and they inspected my vehicle since it was due in June. I once thought I had a flat, driving through the sound, as my car was handling very poorly. I stepped out to check... and WHAMMO ! Flat on my back on the black ice. No flat tire, just lady luck on my side that I was still on the road. I am barely fit.

And I never wave to anyone, unless you have something really identifiable on the front of your vehicle. I don't look in the cars, I look at the person I am tailgating usually. Loverboy called my cell one day. He said " where are you headed? " I replied, " I am just going past the co-op tanks".

He replied " I know, I just met you and waved !!!"

Bouche versus Bush

To my very "french" friend with the english speaking mate.... I laughed so hard at your kissing tale ! I have to share .... it's so amusing.

After grooming his moustache, you asked him to "kiss me on my bouche ."

To english ears...bouche has a somewhat different meaning. Funny !!!!!

Cookbook Sale

Book closeouts has a great sale on cookbooks... and I know a lot of cooks out there ! Amazing low prices, check it out for yourselves.

Computer Nerds and other advice

My best computer has let me down. The sailor says I need a really good nerd. The Blondie says God fixes computers, and it's all really to test my coping skills. What ! Am I on candid camera !

If God fixed computers, there wouldn't be any confiscated from the rectories, now would there?

Anyway... tomorrow I will have a rest from the machine of patience. Having contacted a nerd today, and having said some words of prayer, I thank you both for your much needed advice.

Martinis ???

Oh.. that got your attention Cook, ... and Cinnamon girl. Hehehe!

You can get some Martini info, and 5 free bookmarks, and they are really nice actually!

Minute Maid Frozen treat

You can now save $1.00 off Minute Maid’s Frozen Treats. Maybe someone likee Mrs. Tiptoe could eat these to cool off those tropical moments, rather than work on 1000 piece winter scene puzzles.
