Elvis and BJ Thomas

Awhile ago, I ran into Mme MM, who told me she enjoys alot of the same music as I. (although she's a bit older than I)
Today, in my travels, I heard a nice oldie from BJ Thomas. I looked around and can't remember exactly which one it was. I did find Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song.
Then I found and listened to Elvis and I'm so Lonesome I Could Cry.
Pretty good singing !

Prince

Well I am not so excited about Prince preforming in the city. I know the eldest of the Brady Bunch is super excited. Even worried about hyperventilating. She'll be ok.
I wonder how many will be wearing Raspberry berets ?
I do like some of his music. My favorite of his is Raspberry Beret !
Not only do I love the song, I have always adored the first 8 lines at the start !
I was working part time in a five-and-dime
My boss was Mr. Mcgee
He told me several times that he didn't like my kind
Cause I was a bit too leisurely
Seems that I was busy doing something close to nothing
But different than the day before
That's when I saw her, ooh, I saw her
She walked in through the out door, out door

Tidy Tuesday

Countertop space is the topic.
I recently read an article and it said that there is a countertop rule.
"If you use it everyday or at least twice a week, it can stay on the countertop."
Otherwise, it belongs elsewhere.
I had a look around my counter. Toaster, stays. Coffeemaker, mounted under the cabinet, but used less than once a month, looks like it will stay. Cookie jar, stays. Small organizer for pens, and paper,is used all day, stays. Kitchenaid, ??? unsure, and super heavy. How do you store something so heavy?
Well, I did some research. There's a great pop of device for such mixers that can store and pop up and out of cabinet doors when needed. If you decide to put it away on a shelf, pick a sturdy one, and place it mid height so you won't have to bend, or reach too high. You can also hide it in one of those kitchen garage cupboards.
If moving your heavy mixer is the problem, I read that some women will keep theirs on a tray, so it can easily slide in and out of storage.
I haven't moved mine yet. But I am considering it.

Monday's Sexual Post

Every day I check the statistics on this blog. I always enjoy reading keywords that people worldwide have entered into google to find Les LeBlancs. Everyday there is some sort or "penis" question.
Really, the penis growth only starts between the ages of 10 to 14 years of age. The testicles enlarge first and then the pubic hair starts growing. The penis grows in length first and width a bit later. ~~Teenagers have to wait for one or two years after they stop growing in height before they know their final penis size.~~
And there is evidence that the penis may get smaller in old age.
Studies also show it will become smaller if you become impotent for a long period of time.
And lastly, carrying extra pounds will make your penis appear shorter than it really is. Drop the extra weight and you'll get a couple inches for your efforts !

Week # 30 Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Since they were on sale this week, I decided to cook one.
In a slow cooker, mix cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix and water. Place pot roast in slow cooker and coat with soup mixture.
Cook on Low setting for 8 to 9 hours.

1 beef pot roast
2 onions, quartered
1 small bag mini carrots ( I just threw in a few carrots)
1 can golden cream of mushroom soup ( They don't sell it at the co-op but I can lend you a can. Sobeys sells it in their soup display. Only Campbells makes it as far as I know.)
1/2 pouch dry onion soup mix
1 cup water
COMMENTS: I served it with mashed potatoes. Loverboy said it was A1 and melted in your mouth. He spooned the gravy over his potatoes. He said I should pick up another one or two for the freezer. Roast and gravy is not my favorite by far. I didn't think the meat looked tender at all, and was pleasantly surprized. It was good and very tender.

The love of handwriting

I always have loved to write.

To write in cards, to send thank you notes, and to mail invites.

I like the personal touch it gives.

I once read that Jackie Onassis had the same love of handwriting.

She loved to handwrite notes.

She had a real knack for it. She'd never start her note with Thank You , So sorry, or Get well soon.

She'd always write a little sentiment, or write about the person, or the event first.

She kept things simple and sweet. Just like Jackie Onassis.

I received such a little note today, and was glad to see the art of handwriting alive and well.

TONIGHT !

Alexa's CD release !
A full band will be with her, and the place will be rocking !
Great deal too $15 includes entrance fee and her CD

Post Trauma Lipoma, update

Now over 4 weeks post surgery, this is how my inner thigh looks.
I saw the surgeon today, and all the leaking is normal. It's a steady leak past week, about one drip every 6 secs or less, depending on how I sit. In the vehicle, or on a hard chair, it will drip faster. I wear about three maxipads a day, and leave my leg without a pad from 4pm to 7am most nights. I sit on towels and let the scar have air, as the pads are so wet it's very hard on the skin.
I can bathe in the tub, with no bubble bath. Since the leg is leaking quite fast, it's pretty safe to do so without the risk of germs getting in.
The surgeon told me he had no idea when it would stop, but thinking that I could be leaking in January is not so far fetched.
Lipomas rarely reach more than 2cm in size. The term giant lipoma is used to describe tumors over 5 cms. My tumor once removed, weighed over a half a pound, measured 12 x 10 x 5 cm. It's removal left excess skin, and an 8 cm strip was cut off the top, and a 3 cm strip was cut from the bottom, and then glued and stitched.
I decided to post about my lipoma and the recovery, because when looking for information on what to expect for recovery, there was none about giant lipomas. I hope my story will help someone. Part one can be found HERE.

Happy 36th anniversary

God's right hand man, the one who kneels, and his wife.
Married 36 years today.
I thought a quilt would make you a nice gift, but I don't quilt yet.
Hehe.
Happy anniversary !

Le marais

Just when I thought we'd be buying skates for all our seniors at the Home, they came to the rescue, and the marsh waters are receding.

Tidy Tuesday

Today's topic... sheets.
In my linen closet, I store my sheets on labelled shelves. Queen flat, queen fitted, double flat, double fitted, and one space labelled pillowcases. I also have a couple twin sets in there for the camper. I often wish I had more room in there for blankets and throws.
Then I read about storing bedsheets in your closet, or an empty dresser drawer in your bedroom, provided you have the space.
As for the sheets, I know some do fold both sheets and one pillowcase, and slide them into the second pillow case. Another method of space saving is to fold the flat first, as the picture shows, place that folded fitted on the far third of the sheet, top it with the pillowcases, and fold the flat over. Makes a neat bundle with everything enclosed.

Extension Cords

I am sure all the women will agree.
Is there any reason why extension cords are at least 3 feet in length.
I'd love to buy an eight inch extension cord.
Maybe even a 6 inch cord.
Or 12 inches !
It just doesn't make sense !
If the men in the world were decorating their homes for Christmas, they'd want short extension cords too.
Can you easily buy these, as seen in the picture?
And I don't want a retractable cord thingy.
Comments welcomed

Monday's Sexual Post

Guess I have been listening to too many Christmas tunes.
I will share a few naughty Christmas sex ideas with you.
Jingle Bells: involves some classic "teabagging" and if you're really into it, you can stripe his penis with some red frosting like a candy cane.
Santa's Little Helpers: get creative, feel like an elf, and have sex while upright on your knees.
Stocking Stuffer: bring out that single sleeping bag, zip it up with both of you inside for some stocking stuffer sex.
Trim the tree: yes, do some trimming on each other. You totally trust him, don't you?
And for those feeling about adventurous as I am right now, chestnuts roasting an an open fire, is more my speed.
I love the fireplace.

Happy 50th Anniversary

Happy 50th wedding anniversary to Barbara and Felix d'Eon.
As a young girl, I spent many hours at the home of Barbara and Felix, with their daughters.
One day we young girls were discussing our mothers, and how old they were.
Barbara was making cookies.
In their home, like many homes, the kitchen seemed to be the hub of the wheel. There was a chair by the window, and much conversation and company flocked around there.
We asked Barbara how old she was.
She told us she was 33.
Wow, that's pretty old we thought.
Looking back, Barbara and Felix were always kind, and generous. They laughed easily, both were witty, and said funny things to make us kids laugh.
I always felt at ease in their home.
Not surprised to hear they are celebrating their 50th anniversary.
Happy Anniversary !!!

Craft & bake sale

Hey everyone !
There's a Craft & Bake Sale tomorrow at the West Pubnico Legion.
Starts at 10am until 2:00 or so

Five weeks to Christmas

So it's getting closer and I have seen a few snowflakes. Tod reported seeing some on her deck.
What should you be focusing on this upcoming week, with Christmas only 5 weeks away?
Cleaning when you are home, and shopping when you are out.
Deep cleaning before the decorations come out is a good idea.
Especially the kitchen and the living room, and the bathroom guests may use.
Make sure you've got plenty space in your closet or on your hall tree, for the guests' coats too!
And you should be shopping for those gifts you haven't picked up.
Double check your gift buying list.
It's also a great time to plan for and pick up holiday baking supplies, and special holiday food. (such as cream cheese, shrimp, smoked oysters and smoked salmon ....yummy )
Keep an eye on the grocery store sales, and pick it up now, save money, and be ready.

Partridge family

I always thought that Shirley Jones was David Cassidy's mother, in real life. Actually she is his step mother.
What do you think was their first hit song? and who gave Danny a black eye ?
Shirley worked at a bank before she joined the kids, and she was widowed, but the father's name was never mentioned.
Remember how Susan could hear the radio through her new braces ?
It was "I think I love you" that was their first hit.
And Jodie Foster played the tough little girl who gave a black eye.

The average woman

Goes to bed at eleven.
Wakes three times during the night.
Reasons: has to pee, is too hot, or her mind is racing.

the Blues

Not the music. I am taking about feeling blue. I was reading an article in readers digest about feeling blue and it said that staying up~~ all night for one night — and therefore depriving yourself of sleep — has been shown to lift depression for as long as a month. Although researchers aren’t sure why it works, they speculate that one night of sleep deprivation may reset the sleep clock, enabling people who are depressed to sleep better. ~~
many who feel depressed have trouble sleeping and they could try to change their sleep location for a night , never nap more than 20 minutes, have no caffeine after 3pm and they should relax an hour before headed to bed.
Staying up all night? In my opinion, it would likely replace depression with crankiness.

Week #29 Macaroni & Cheese

8 oz of uncooked macaroni (or 5 cups of cooked)

4 tbsp flour

4 tbsp butter

1 cup milk

1 cup cream

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup buttered breadcrumbs

Cook the macaroni or use leftover cooked macaroni as I did.

Preheat your oven to 400F.

In a large enough saucepan, melt the butter, and quickly blend in the flour and add the milk and cream. Stir until it starts to boil. Turn off the heat.

Stir in the cheese until it's all nice and creamy. Add the cooked macaroni and stir.

Place the macaroni and cheese into a greased baking dish. I had an oblong dish, but could have used a 9x9 inch square.

Top it with buttered breadcrumbs. I only topped half the dish as you can see. Son #1 hates those breadcrumbs. ( And how do you do this? I tossed a slice of bread and a tablespoon butter in the food processor. Quick and easy ! Voila!)

Bake for 20 minutes.

COMMENTS: Make kraft dinner next time was the comment given by two of them. It was nice and creamy, but I wouldn't make it again.

Nat's Famous Donair Meat

1.5 pounds hamburg
1.5 teaspoons flour

1.5 teaspoons garlic powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon pepper

1 teaspoon oregano

1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Work it very well. Divide in half. Roll and form a log with each half (roll should be as long as the 9x13 pan you'll use to bake it in)

Bake at 350F for an hour. Nat claims it freezes super, and claims the meat is easily sliced from it's frozen state.

It just doesn't get any better than the donair meat from the Sewer Plant Pizzeria !!

Chocolate Syrup for milk

Here's a recipe for homemade chocolate syrup. The kind the kids add to their milk.
½ cup cocoa powder
1 cup water
2 cups sugar
⅛ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon vanilla
Mix the cocoa powder & the water in a saucepan. Heat and stir to dissolve the cocoa. Add the sugar, and stir to dissolve. Boil for 3 minutes over medium heat.
Add the salt and the vanilla.
After it's cool, pour it into a glass jar, and store in the refrigerator.
It makes about 2 cups and keeps for several months.
Use just a teaspoon per glass of milk.

Hoarders

One thing I'll never blog about on Tidy Tuesday is how to keep your purse neat.
Mine isn't never neat for very long.

Too many paper slips, and I have a tendency to just drop stuff in there.

Son #2 told my Sis " Mom's gonna be on Hoarders someday. Yep.

"Hoarders: Purse edition"

Tidy Tuesday

Today I have some tidbits to share.
White plastic gutters can be hung in your closet, or work space, against the wall, to hold wrapping paper rolls ! Just buy a length, or two or three, and the gutter holders and voila. What next?
And those birthday candles? A mason jar is perfect to hold them all neatly.
Tired of dusting the bookshelf ? If you pull the books to the very edge of the shelf, & you'll no longer have that space to dust.
If you always keep a few of the plastic grocery bags in your car or truck ... tuck a few of them inside a paper towel tube, and they'll stay there until you need one. I don't know why you'd want one .... maybe mackerel fishing, or a leaky boot?
Paper towel tubes are also great for storing long tapered candles. Just wrap them in tissue, or paper towel, and side them inside the tube. They won't ever get damaged that way.
They claim Avon bubble bath does wonders on your car windows. Add a bit to warm water, wash and towel dry.

Monday's Sexual Post

Every once in awhile, I try toss in a new sex positions, to liven us up. Funny how some never quite leave our minds, like the Randy Raft and the Starfish.
Today we have the Speed Bump. Women rated it 4 out of 5 stars, so I'd say it's worth the effort. Or shall I say, worth his effort. It's reported to be pretty hot and fast, and good to orgasm. Use a pillow under your privates to elevate you, and he'll do the work.
Next is the position called Happy Anniversary. The name caught my eye. He has his feet on the ground, and you are in control for the most part. He can contibute some thrusting by pushing against the floor. It was rated 3 out of 5 stars by women.

Post Trauma Lipoma

Lipomas are a soft tissue tumor, which are benign (non-cancerous). Lipomas are the most common soft tissue tumors. Many people who have small lipomas, have more than one. Males are more prone to them than females. Unless they are bothersome, they usually do not need to be removed. Some lipomas are caused from a trauma, such as the one I sported on my inner thigh.
At age 11, I was hit at a baseball game, on the inner thigh. It left a small lump, which was pretty much unnoticeable until I had two pregnancies. Then it grew. At the age of 47, it grew some more, to the large size you see here. It hurt to support it, as it was heavy, and riding a bike, or doing aquasize, appeared to cause a strain on it. The site was always tender, since the age 11. If a cat, or dog, or young infant stepped on it, it would hurt.

I had it out in October, took antibiotics, and kept a drain for 4 days. At first glance, in recovery, the area was caved in, and I could easily have placed a half grapefruit in the hole.

On day 6 it became red and swollen, and for the first time, it started to hurt. I had a low grade fever which stayed with me for almost two weeks. I remained on antibiotics.

One week post-op, my leg was very swollen, and hard. I took the second picture. The doctor determined there was at least one litre of fluid in that leg.The next day, I decided to go to work for 6 hours, and once home, the leg sprung a leak (clear yellow) near the drain site. So began wearing pads on my leg. While they work great, the moisture and swelling was hard on the site. Skin peeled. It felt great to have it drain.
Day 14, the leaking had stopped about 12 hours. Suddenly, from another spot, I had what I called a flash flood. No doubt about it, the litre fluid was lost in 30 minutes. The liquid was still clear yellow. It would not be the only flash flood. The site would get harden again, and another flash flood would occur. No pad could absorb all that water.

Day 16, the stitches came out, and the leg looked good. That night, I sat in a chair, and yet another flash flood came from mid-scar. Blood stained water, and tons of it. My husband grabbed a flannel blanket and applied pressure, and later steristrips. I rested my leg after that. Doctor told me to stop "jumping around".
Today, Day 20, the last picture shown, I have just little drip hole mid-scar, and my leg is much smaller. I have had the same pad on for 5 hours. The leak is slow, and the site feels a bit hard.

While I am glad to have this tumor removed, I must say that I didn't expect recovery to be so slow, and drainage to be so much. The pain was worse when swelling was an issue. I am unsure of how it will look once fully healed, but it's my guess that it will have a nice looking scar, be a bit caved it, with a little lump at the top of the leg.

Anything will be better.

White Point Sadness

Today, on my 48th birthday, my favorite getaway, White Point Beach Lodge, has suffered a devastating fire. From pictures, it looks like the entire main lodge has been burned to the ground.
I have spent some good times there.
Feeding bunnies, body boarding, having quality time, laughing, puzzle making, swimming, canoeing, walking the beach, enjoying thunder & lightning, singing in the lounge, wearing my blond wig, great gin and tonics, and wonderful dining, especially the salmon !
I thought about adding pictures of the fire, but instead, I decided to add some white point pics instead.
These pictures were taken in the dining room. I showed up to a meeting, only to discover some colleagues had consumed wine for breakfast. That afternoon, in the beach house we rented, we laughed so much, it hurt !
I do have other pictures, but they aren't for publishing on the world wide web. The card game one on the piano lady's camera, or the personality test pictures....
