Street closed to cars

I love this idea.
In Iceland, during the summer months, Laugavegur street is closed to cars.
What a great way to keep motorized vehicles out.

Elsa from Frozen

is the only Disney Princess who is not a teenager. According to Disney, Elsa is 21.
Her sister Anna is 18.

Never know when you need that info at a trivia night....

Dishwashers and saving money

I read that you can save about 15% of total dishwasher energy use by selecting the air-dry cycle or opening the dishwasher door instead of using the heat drying cycle. (Most of the energy costs, about 80%, comes from heating the water )

Don't position your dishwasher and refrigerator side by side in the kitchen....  you will use more energy to keep your refrigerator cool.

If you must pre-rinse before loading, you should do so with cold water, or dip into rinse water, rather than running the water the entire time..
But if you must run water to rinse, use a sprayer.

I am guilty of running the rinse cycle every time after I load plates into the dishwasher. I do it so the dishes will clean easily and won't smell before it's a full load, and ready to run

. It's a habit I can't seem to break. But I do "air" dry my dishes in the dishwasher.

Priapism ( Prolonged erection )

An erection of 4 hours or more, needs medical attention.
It's very uncommon, and also very painful.
Blood gets trapped in the chambers of the penis.
Left untreated, it can lead to scarring and permanent erectile dysfunction.

Most likely to suffer from priapism: boys aged 5 to 10, and men aged 20 to 50.

Some causes:
  • Side effect of some ED medication
  • 42% of men with sickle cell anemia will suffer from priapism.
  • Trauma to the spinal cord, or genital area
  • Use of illicit drugs
  • Carbon monoxide poisoning
  • Black Widow spider bites.

Rhiannon

Some of my friends are at a Fleetwood Mac concert tonight, and Avery's Saturday song, ( sorry a day late) is his favorite !
Stevie Nicks said in an interview that she had simply read the name Rhiannon in a novel and liked it.
It's basically about a mystical woman who doesn't like to be tied down.

Listen to Rhiannon !

The Eiffel Tower

Is repainted every 7 years, in 3 different shades of brown, with the darkest at the bottom.
This gives it a greater appearance of height.

Relationship habits that are okay

I was reading a story on relationships, and some of the strange things we think and feel. Most of these thoughts are perfectly normal.
  1. Long silences.  It doesn't mean anything is wrong; it's a sign you know each other well, and there is not much to say.
  2. Wanting space.  Perfectly fine and acceptable.
  3.  Getting distracted during sex.  Hey, we have a lot on our minds! The rain starts, and the intimacy too, and suddenly you're wondering about the basement drain.
  4. Thinking about the one that got away. The old flame, and wondering what if ....   Perfectly normal to wonder.
  5. Wanting to run away. Yep, unless it's constantly on your mind, it's normal to wonder if you should just keep driving ....
  6. Being seriously annoyed with his/her bad habit. In fact, most of us have multiple things we simply can't stand about our partners. Snoring, hygiene, sloppiness, and their "dumb"conversations with others were examples.
  7. Disliking a friend of his/hers.  There is usually one friend of your partners' that you wish would take a hike,
  8. Lying.  Most have. Call it a white lie, or you just forgot to tell them. It's really ok.
