People who openly share their resolution are 10 times more likely to achieve them.
People in their 20's are best at attaining their resolutions.

52 week money challenge

I blogged about this before. The concept is easy; put aside ( or arrange transfer with online banking) a set amount every week, and at the end of the year you will have saved $1378.

Someone told me they did this, but with a twist. They made a chart with numbers 1 to 52, and they decided each week (and checked off the list), how much they would set aside. Their argument was that in December, when expenses are high, it was hard to put aside about $50 a week. However at tax return time, it was easier to do the bigger amounts.

Junk Food

Read an article about avoiding junk food. They basically had 3 ideas.

  1. keep it all in a certain cupboard/drawer and don't go there
  2. Store them in a box or container that isn't see-thru
  3. Have your own"treat" container

  3. count your loose change and deposit it
  4. clean up your PVR , delete stuff you'll never watch

Mascara

I read that we should never "pump" our mascara wand into the cylinder.
Whoops !
It just adds air which introduces bacteria and makes it dry out.

And is your mascara is drying out ? add some saline drops, contact lens rinse solution or an eye drop like Visine to it

Are you nutty ?

Well you should be.

According to the Mayo Clinic, nuts are important, and can prevent and reverse heart disease in overweight adults.
We should eat a serving of unsalted nuts 4 times a week or every other day.

The following equal one ounce:
24 almonds
18 medium cashews
 12 hazelnuts or filberts
 8 medium Brazil nuts
 12 macadamia nuts
 35 peanuts
 15 pecan halves
14 English walnut halves

Walnuts, they claim, fight inflammation, and the manganese they provide help PMS symptoms.
Almonds: are good for your gut. Good for weight loss, and they introduce good bacteria.
Cashews: good for your iron, and immune system. Also good for your vision
Pecans: one of the most antioxidant nut. Good for your heart and brain.
Brazil nuts: never eat more than a serving. Contains selenium, which may prevent certain cancers such as breast, prostate, and bone.
Macadamia nuts: they claim will reduce cholesterol
Pistachios: can lift your mood, and improve your immune system
Hazelnuts: good to help manage type 2 diabetes, prevent cataracts and macular degeneration and reduce dementia.

Cauliflower rice

Ingredients:

Cauliflower
1 Tbsp olive oil
Seasonings of choice, such as garlic, onion powder, cilantro or cumin.
Directions:
Grab a regular cheese grater and grate the raw cauliflower into small, rice-sized pieces. While you’re doing that, heat up a non-stick skillet with a little olive oil. Add the cauliflower and heat until slightly browned.

Watergate salad

I may have to try this.
I understand the pistachio pudding is not prepared; just mix the dry powder into the cool whip.

Macy's Day #8 !

We arrived at this house and they were obviously hosting a party of some sort.
We ducked and ran between bushes.
I don't think we were ever spotted.
